This project focuses on the BMW’s interior, with the steering wheel as the main subject.
Creative Direction
The idea is to mix BMW’s precision with abstract FX. Every effect is designed to feel engineered, matching the BMW attitude.
Visual Tone
The look is classic black on black, very clean and minimal. Lighting is dark but highlights the shapes clearly. The palette stays within BMW’s signature colors, mixed with blacks and metallics.
FX include the Vellum airbag blast and the seams stitching themselves back. The airbag volume is replaced with fluid that consists of particles moving in an abstract, art directed way. The BMW logo tiles and letters detach and circle around before coming back together. The metallic logo also receives a wavy displacement effect that reinforces the motion theme.
Process
We built the project inside the BMW M8 interior and centered the shots around the steering wheel. The first effect is the Vellum-driven airbag burst, followed by the seams regenerating. This transitions into the fluid and particle system filling the airbag space.
The BMW logo becomes a recurring element. Its pieces disintegrate, move through the shots, and rebuild at the end. A displacement wave moves across the logo surface to support the abstract feel. Transitions are designed to stay smooth and keep the sense of flow across all shots.
